When it comes to protecting your investment in a home, the roof is one of, if not the, most important areas. When it comes time to replace the roof on your home, a properly installed roof made from high quality materials will protect it for many years to come. On the other hand, inferior workmanship and cheap materials can lead to extensive dry rot and water damage and very expensive repairs.
When choosing a roofing contractor, it is important to consider the stability of the company. Unfortunately, many roofing contractors are only in business for 2 or 3 years. Obviously, the concern for you as a homeowner is whether or not the contractor you decide on will be in business down the line to honor the warranty and take care of any problems that may arise. As an established, family owned and stable business, we will be.
Our roofing crews are hard working, experienced roofers. We only do roofs the right way- complete tear offs; inspections for dry rot and water damage; time-tested and appropriate roofing techniques; all new flashing, stacks and vents; and only high quality materials. Please visit our roofing galleries to view photos of the roofing process and examples of the various styles we offer.
21st Century Home Improvement is experienced in nearly all types of roofing, including wood shake, tar and gravel, composition shingle, modified bitumen, Spanish tile, and slate. While we install all of these types of roofs, the majority of our work is with composition shingles and modified bitumen. Therefor, these products and processes are spelled out in further detail below.
Composite Shingle Roofs
21st Century Home Improvement uses only high quality composite shingles. The standard composition shingle we use for pitched roofs carry 30-year warranties. We also offer composition shingles with 40-year, 50-year, and lifetime warranties. Their 'Class A' fire rating is the highest possible rating. Fiberglass core shingles are lighter than organic felt core shingles, and therefore exerts less pressure on the structure of your home.
We use Fiberglass Class A Asphalt shingles from manufactures CertainTeed and Elk. Consumer Reports has given high ratings to each of these brands of composite shingles. Each offers a wide variety of styles and colors for homeowners to choose from.
Our roofers install these composite shingles according to the manufacturers specifications so that the shingles are warrantied and will perform optimally. We also use 30 lb. felt paper underlayment rather than the 15 lb. felt paper used by many roofing contractors because of its superior durability. In addition, we offer ridge venting to create ventilation in the roof. This prevents moisture from damaging the wood deck, underlayment and shingles. It also prevents heat from causing premature aging of the rafters and roof materials.
Modified Bitumen Roofs
21st Century Home Improvement uses only high quality Class A Fire Rated Modified Bitumen. Again, we use Class A Fire Rated Modified Bitumen from leading manufacturers CertainTeed and Firestone. Our Modified Bitumen roofs are warrantied for 10 years.
Modified Bitumen roofs are far more durable than tar and gravel roofs. An testament to the durability of Modified Bitumen is that it accounts for 95% of commercial building roofs worldwide. The 'torch down' commercial style process we use to install Modified Bitumen is far cleaner than tar and gravel roofing. Much of the noise, fumes, and spills associated with tar and gravel is eliminated. Modified Bitumen is also far lighter than tar and gravel. On average, Bitumen roofs weigh 60% less than tar and gravel roofs. Reduced weight causes less stress on the structure of your home. Modified Bitumen is offered in a wide variety of colors and styles.
